Over the Chalet

“Got to find out what kind of trees these are.” Agent Cooper had good instincts: the Pacific Northwest features trees like nowhere else.

The magic of the Chalet begins when you turn down the driveway by the Chalet in the Woods sign and wind your way through the forest. An old stand of Douglas Fir trees greets you, passing you on to their neighbors: a grove of Western Red Cedar standing guard around the Tupa (our covered event area). Here you’ll see all three dominant trees, the giant Big Leaf Maple, the Firs, and the Cedars, each with an important place in our ecosystem, protecting our little salmon creek and habitat for many native birds and mammals.
